Turbo Dog

• Pour Color: Brown color till held up and it gets a dark red look. Light travels through Easy.

      This had a nice head that seemed to pop up and disapear quick. It held it's ground at the edges of the beer for the rest of the pint. Easily came back out of the hairs! The scent was a nice caramel and roasted coffee scent. Didn't get to big a wiff of hops. The first thing you taste is the caramel and the coffee in this one. A nice kick of chocolate is there too. You also get a nice kick of raisin from the hops I would imagine. A really weird ballence that works fairly well. 
      Been away for awhile, but found a fairly good one to come back on. Abita has a strawberry ale that's great so when we saw a brown ale, one of the Face's favorite, we had to try it. The clear taste of raisin is not something I had expected from a brown ale. Really added a nice character. All and all this was a really good brown ale!

Humboldt Brown Hemp Ale

• Pour Color: Dark brown but lets a little light through.

     It had a sweet toffee scent off the glass. The head came up quickly and was fluffy. The taste has a slightly nutty taste. The over whelming taste though is a sweet caramel malt. On the swallow you get a nice bitter grassy taste. Maybe that's the kick of the hemp. The flavors on this one is really good but the body is actually lighter then most brown ales I've had. Light passed through this one easy and gave it almost a red ale look. 
      This one was labeled hemp ale on the side of the six of this.  The hemp factor didn't really give me much of a difference on taste then most brown ales. The did give this one a sweeter flavor then most browns I've tasted. However this is the first brown ale I've had that claimed to be all natural. Can't complain about that, and it won't be the last time I have a Nectar Ales product. Hope the face grabs another soon.

Ithaca Nut Brown

• Pour Color: Dark brown but lets a little light through.

      A brown ale always goes well with a brown mustache. The Face poured this one and you couldn't quite see through it. A nice fluffy head came up quick and left just as quickly. The scent off the top is a nice roasted caramel or toffee. The flavor is a nice raisin at first. Then you notice a nice roasted walnut taste. Finally a nice roasted flavor at the finish. All and all a really good beer that drinks much darker then most brown ales. 
      This is a sweet bitter beer that rounds out your average meals. Pair it with grilled meats, or a nice pizza, and it don't get better. Got a day planned round the grill? Bring some nut brown and everyone will thank you.

Indian Brown Ale

• Pour Color: A golden color on pour.

      On pour this one was dark and seemed to be thick. The head to it went up high and fluffy and fought back as I attempted to soak in the beer. The scent off the glass is a mix of a spicy hop and a roasted caramel. On sip you get a nice coffee flavor right away. You also notice the roasted malts quickly too. A bitter smokiness is tasted and it mixes well with the sweet chocolate and caramel taste on swallow. This beer is another one that is just a sea of flavors. All of them seem to be the right flavors though.
      Hops or wine hybrids seem to be the name of the game for dogfish, when you look at my reviews. But that's really not all these guys offer to tantalize the follicles. This one showcases a understanding of strong malts. A really great brown ale that has a little extra hop and scotch ale kick.

Brown Ale

• Pour Color: Brown almost amber color not quite see through.

      The pour came up with a nice creamy head. A nice malty scent off the beer with a sweet caramel smell. This one was another balanced taste of hops and malts. The roasted malts are obvious with a nice chocolate kick. It also seemed to have a coffee character too. The hops on this brown was where it got interesting. Quite a bit more hop then most browns giving it a bitter not to sweet flavor. The body and taste all blend nicely for a smooth taste. 
      Another good organic offering. Most browns have a almost watered down taste to it. Don't have to worry about that here. This one has got a good hop character and a delicious malt fullness. Really one of my favorite browns I've ever had.

Brooklyn Brown Ale

• Pour Color: A translucent dark brown

      This one poured with a high fluffy head that was a tough opponent. Almost a roasted caramel scent. As it splashed upon me the head broke and a sea of flavor ensued. A delicious fairly strong bodied beer. Not quite a smooth drinking beer but not to thick either. You get tastes of caramel, coffee, chocolate, and roasted malt flavors. Really a lot of flavor that mixes well with the mellow taste of hops. 
      This was always one of me and the Face's favorite beers. A brown ale is supposed to show you the whole spectrum of light and dark beer in it's flavor. This one is one of the best at doing so. Even with the strong malt flavors you get a nice hop taste that blends it all together. One I'd recommend to anyone at any function.
