Monster Ale

• Pour Color: A nice copper color that let light pass easy.

       This beer poured with a head that disappeared quick. The scent off the top was a mix of apples and hops. Almost a falconers flight scent. The color was pretty much a copper and could easily be seen thru. The flavor gives you a nice mix of hops and malts with a yeasty taste. Not to sweet really and not really tasting like it's 10 percent. The hops are really the lightest taste not really bright or crisp. The hops might be the apple taste and scent I'm getting. The star is obviously the malts and yeast as you get a toasted roasted flavor while in mouth. Slightly sweet too. On swallow it turns to a yeasty biscuity taste that taste strange. It's a barley wine for sure though!
      At such a high alcohol you'd expect that you'd taste it. You really don't though. 10.1% and it's still fairly mellow. The taste though is off kilter to me. I swam in it and it really reminded me most of the Brooklyn IPA but not really much more. If you're looking for a high ABV that will be fairly easy drinking this is it. Not personally a favorite in the mix of flavors they did this with. I'm actually really disappointed cause most of the time Brooklyn hits a home run in my opinion!

Brooklyn Lager

• Pour Color: Nice yellow golden color that has a slight haze. 

       The head was fluffy at the beginning and became a nice lacing at the top for the rest of the glass. The scent off the top was much more malts then anything else. The hops were only slightly noticeable. The color of this one is a little more amber then most lagers I've had. The caramel malts are there but don't add to much sweetness. An malt explosion on taste. Nice bready and yeasty flavor that gives you the bread in a bottle taste. The hops lend a bittering that makes it very ballenced though. This is a very nice beer.
      So if your like me lagers ain't the first beer you goin for. Usually, just a little to mellow on flavor and really easily forgotten. This is not one of those beers my friend. This one is full of flavor. It's on the malty side so you ain't gonna get that hop head fix. That said though it's not lacking on the floral hop tone either. This is a working mans beer that doesn't leave you feeling unfulfilled like one of those big market lagers!

Brooklyn Winter Ale

• Pour Color: A nice shade of red that shows tons of bubbles and light.

      This one poured a nice shade of red in the glass. The carbonation seemed a little higher then most. The head fizzed quick but would only be a film for most the glass. The Scottish malts give it a nice caramel scent. This one seems to have a spice but thats prolly just the higher carbonation. The real star of this one is the caramel malts. A slightly sweet fairly strong tasting beer. The yeast also has a role in the flavor that blends into a nice bread taste. The hops really take a back seat to all the malt flavor that's going on in this one. Still this mustache thinks it's a good scotch ale!
      Brooklyn makes tons of great beers. At the local store to day I got to meet there buffalo and Rochester rep. Unlike the big names it seems that Brooklyn wants educated beer people to do there representing, not young good looking girls that are just learning beer for the first time. If you're in Brooklyn anytime soon try some "there will be black" for me and let me know how it is!

Post Road

• Pour Color: A see thru orange color to this one!

      This one was a nice pour that had a low head. It only came up to about a finger tall but then hung out at the top of the glass for a good while. The color of this one was orange and allowed light to pass through easily. The scent is the pumpkin and the nutmeg that are main ingredients. When tasting it you find a new respect for pumpkin beers. Most try to go for the pumpkin pie taste this one goes for a pumpkin beer taste. Not to sweet, or overwhelming clove flavors, like many others. I can see the follicles frolicking in this one again soon!
      Fall is almost here, and for some reason, there's nothing but pumpkin ales from every single company. This however is not one of the many that have just popped up. Post Road I have seen for many years and now I'm reviewing it. This is a great beer that really balances pumpkin and malt to give it a great taste. If you skip most pumpkin ales this autumn make sure you give this one a try. I doubt you'll be disappointed!

Brooklyn Summer Ale

• Pour Color: Nice yellow golden color that has a slight haze. 

       The pour was nice. A fluffy head crowned a nice golden beer in the glass. The scent off the top was quite malty, with a nice tone of citrus. The head quickly sank to the sides of the glass where it would reside for the rest of the beer. The initial taste of this one is yeasty and malty. A strong taste of bread to this. After that comes a nice crisp presence of lemon and grass flavors to the hops. On swallow you get a nice biscuit taste. Really a good summer experience in a world of summer wheat beers.
      Brooklyn makes great beers! This is another one that I enjoy. Not my favorite summer ale, but still one I get a hankering for when in season. Extremely malty compared to most summer ales, it gives you something different for the season. Also it comes in a can. Don't bring bottles to the beach... Go grab a twelver of this one!

Pennant Ale '55

• Pour Color: Nearly a golden color that easily lets light through

      On the pour, the head was fluffy and nice. The scent off the glass is a slight roasted malt scent but very sweet. As you sip this one you get hit by malt from all sides. A sweet roasted malt comes first to the front. This is accompanied by a nice citrus and grapefruit taste. Finally as you swallow comes a super bitter taste with a nice biscuit finish. All and all a real exciting journey that I enjoyed. 
      It's baseball season and here is a beer for it. Dedicated to baseball history pennant ale is a good beer. Light crisp but not just water. Real light on the hop character but has a nice bitter kick. Turn on the Mets, Yanks, or Dodgers and bathe in one of these. Win or lose you made out in this deal!

Brooklyn Brown Ale

• Pour Color: A translucent dark brown

      This one poured with a high fluffy head that was a tough opponent. Almost a roasted caramel scent. As it splashed upon me the head broke and a sea of flavor ensued. A delicious fairly strong bodied beer. Not quite a smooth drinking beer but not to thick either. You get tastes of caramel, coffee, chocolate, and roasted malt flavors. Really a lot of flavor that mixes well with the mellow taste of hops. 
      This was always one of me and the Face's favorite beers. A brown ale is supposed to show you the whole spectrum of light and dark beer in it's flavor. This one is one of the best at doing so. Even with the strong malt flavors you get a nice hop taste that blends it all together. One I'd recommend to anyone at any function.

Dry Irish Stout

      It was dark pouring into the growler and it's dark in the glass. As it poured a big tall head came up. Through the next six or seven sips it held on. The smell is just a strong malty scent. A nice light taste to the beer yet real big body. Thicker then some of the other beers I've rated and much more malty. This one has tastes of caramel, chocolate, and barley all jumping out at you. The hop flavor though is there and bitter without taking over the brew. A really good Irish stout of course.
      All of Brooklyn's brews are delicious and this one is no exception. My favorite beer so far of the Saint Paddy's day variety. It's ability to not be a bread in the bottle feel while having that taste is amazing. Just the right balance of sweetness too. Another beer I got to say "Thank You Face."
