Torpedo Pilsner

The Beer Stats:
  • Beer Name:Torpedo Pilsner
  • Brewery: Sierra Nevada and FireStone Walker
  • Style: Pilsner
  • ABV: 5.2%
  • IBU: 45
  • Pour Color: Light golden color

Upon pouring the face and I found it to be very heady and nice and golden. Easily seen thru. The head on this lasted for about half the glass before finally giving up to my follicles. The scent off the top was hoppy and yeasty. Nice tropical/piney scent off the top. The lager yeast was a small contribution to the bouquet. A sweet bready scent. The flavor is that of a strong dose of hops. Sweet meets up with piney tropical hops and really works well as a hoppy pilsner. If your looking for a Canadian pilsner then this one will just be to much for you. Really really good and delivers what it says it will!
This pilsner is quite delicious. The hand in hand with firestone walker and sierra nevada suggests it will have a good hop flavor and ballance as both sierra and firestone know how to use hops. This pilsner delivers what you would expect and is nice and crisp. The flavors of the hops just make for a more refreshing taste then most pilsner. Having a lower ABV could have hurt it for the time i've let it age but that is not the case. A great beer that anyone would be lucky to find even now when it's not at it's optimal freshness.

Hop Devil

The Beer Stats:
  • Beer Name: Hop Devil
  • Brewery: Victory Brewery (Pennsylvania)
  • Style:IPA
  • ABV:6.7.%
  • IBU: 50
  • Pour Color: Nice golden color on the pour not very murky.

The scent comes out the bottle. A nice full range of hop scent. Pine and citrus tones are easy to catch before the foam goes down in the glass. The head didn't stick around to long. The taste is a nice earthy deep hop flavor. It mixes well with the malts that only gives a slight sweet flavor. It must be the whole hops that they use that reminds me of a Torpedo. Not quite as bitter but a really great IPA. One of the best I have reviewed and a constant favorite of me and the Faces.
Another Victory brew and another one in the W column. This one doesn't kick your butt like a  Hop Wallop but is much easier drinking. Like I said this one is the old standby when it comes to my favorite beers. Hop heavy and drinkable for most occasions, the Hop Devil is always a good choice.

Torpedo

The Beer Stats:
  • Beer Name: Torpedo
  • Brewery: Siarra Nevada (California)
  • Style: Extra I.P.A.
  • ABV: 7.2%
  • IBU: 65
  • Pour Color: A Golden transparent color.

Last time it was a dark beer this time an Extra IPA. I'm smelling hops before the face can get it in a mug. The head turned out to be much fluffier and thick then most IPAs. A good mix of the hops give you a strong pine taste. This beer while giving you a high amount of hop doesn't hide the malt flavor. The malt is the backing that makes this drink is bitter but easy drinking. Most IPAs don't have a refreshment quality like this, this beer is a work of art.
Torpedo is the right name for this brew. With a high ABV and tons of flavor it hits and BOOM! This was one of the first IPAs the Face had so one of the first I had. This one is still one of the best. What this stache is saying is, I compare most IPAs to torpedo and most don't really stand up.
