The Hennepin from Ommegang is a incredible beer. A slightly sweet gingery scent sets the stage for this beer. The head was creamy but gave way after a sip or two. After the first splash you realize this is not a hop lovers dream. The ginger gives it a nice spice on taste and the malts mix well with that spice. With 7.7% ABV you can tell that this is a big time ale. As your sipping it though it's hard to tell. A nice easy drinking high alcohol beer. So nice out of a growler too.
This, just like the Rare Vos, is a real unique beer. This nearly has the alcohol level of a imperial IPA without any of the hops or bitterness. Yet doesn't go the other direction either and do a stout. A extremely easy drinking beer that could get a light beer drinker in trouble. On a warm day this is a delicious beer to have at the tailgate party.
